A moment in Young Sheldon season 6, episode 17 creates a The Big Bang Theory plot hole that also ruins one of Sheldon and Amy’s most hilarious scenes. Despite being a late addition to the nerd-centric sitcom, Mayim Bialik’s Amy quickly won the hearts of the audience as Sheldon’s love interest. Throughout The Big Bang Theory’s 12-season run, CBS gradually developed the pair’s romance which had its fair share of ups and downs. Often paired with each other, some of the funniest The Big Bang Theory bits featured both of them, including one that Young Sheldon recently contradicted.

As TV’s No. 1 comedy approaches its final stretch for the year, certain Young Sheldon season 6 plot lines start to culminate in the episode “A German Folk Song and An Actual Adult.” Still, the writers find a way to partner up Sheldon and Missy, which is a great way to highlight their often-forgotten relationship. As the only Cooper daughter is prohibited from watching TV, her twin takes it upon himself to help her by watching her favorite series — 90210, in an effort to relay its events to his sister. Sheldon’s act is heartwarming, but it also results in another The Big Bang Theory plot hole.

Sheldon’s Completist Line Ruins Amy’s Attempt To Fix His Need For Closure

In Young Sheldon’s “A German Folk Song and An Actual Adult,” Sheldon admits that he’s a completist after he couldn’t resist the urge to finish the episode of 90210 after seeing the first several seconds of it. This may sound like a throwaway line for the show. However, it actually has bigger implications in terms of The Big Bang Theory’s canon, as this contradicts Sheldon’s depiction in the original series. In The Big Bang Theory season 6, episode 21, “The Closure Alternative,” Sheldon refused to admit that he has an issue with not having any closure.

This motivated Amy to not only prove him wrong with a series of tests where she won’t let him finish things to help him with his need for closure. Some of Amy’s challenges included knocking only five times instead of six, which meant two rounds of Sheldon’s signature three knocks. While playing tic-tac-toe with him, she also erased the board just before he could make his game-winning move. Because Sheldon is forthcoming about being a completist in Young Sheldon season 6, it doesn’t make sense that he made a big deal out of it in The Big Bang Theory.

How Young Sheldon Season 6 Has Ruined Sheldon & Amy’s Relationship

This isn’t the first time in Young Sheldon season 6 that the prequel cheapened Sheldon and Amy’s relationship in The Big Bang Theory. In Young Sheldon season 6, episode 13, Sheldon let a drunk Paige not only spend the night but also sleep in his bed after partying too hard. This ruined Sheldon and Amy’s post-love confession moment in The Big Bang Theory season 8, episode 8 titled, “The Prom Equivalency,” where he chastised her just for sitting on his bed. If he is able to let Paige stay in his room in Young Sheldon, it’s absurd that he wouldn’t even allow the woman that he loves in it.
