Young Sheldon Star Addresses Possible Missy Reprisal in Upcoming Spinoff

Young Sheldon star Raegan Revord reveals whether she thinks she’ll return as Sheldon Cooper’s twin sister, Missy, in the upcoming spinoff series.

Young Sheldon may be ending this season, but some of its stars aren’t quite ready to say goodbye. Raegan Revord, who plays Sheldon Cooper’s twin sister, Missy, recently addressed possibly returning to The Big Bang Theory Universe for the upcoming Young Sheldon spinoff series.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Revord expressed interest in playing Missy again, but only after she has expanded her filmography with other types of roles. “I would love to [and] I definitely want to,” she said about a possible Missy reprisal in the Young Sheldon spinoff series. “I’ve said this a few times. But comedy, it’s very easy to be pigeonholed into. And so I do want to explore the options. I’m the type of person that I can see myself acting in any type of genre: drama or sci fi, whatever. So I do want to explore the options and see what else is out there. But I love Missy dearly. She’s the first big character I’ve played and I felt I fell in love with her right off the bat from the audition. And so I definitely would love to return to her at some point.”

Created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, Young Sheldon is a spinoff prequel of the popular CBS comedy series, The Big Bang Theory, focusing on Sheldon Cooper growing up in East Texas in the late ’80s and early ’90s. Iain Armitage portrays the title character, with Jim Parsons narrating the series as adult Sheldon, reprising the role from The Big Bang Theory. The coming-of-age sitcom has been well-received by critics and The Big Bang Theory fans despite the prequel series occasionally ignoring and/or retconning specific childhood memories mentioned by Sheldon in the original series.

Young Sheldon Ending After Seven Seasons

In November 2023, CBS announced that Young Sheldon would end with its seventh season, which will consist of 14 episodes. The season premiered on Feb. 15, 2024 with “A Wiener Schnitzel and Underwear in a Tree,” and is set to conclude on May 16, 2024 with an hour-long series finale. While some of the Young Sheldon cast were blindsided by the news that the series would not return for an eighth season, fans are excited to see the series reach its narrative conclusion, which will seemingly see Sheldon heading off to Pasadena to attend college.

Fans are also excited to see the return of Parsons as the adult Sheldon Cooper. The actor filmed a scene for the Young Sheldon finale with his former Big Bang co-star Mayim Bayik, who returns as Sheldon’s wife, Amy.

What’s Next for The Big Bang Theory Franchise?

There are currently two additional series set in The Big Bang Theory Universe currently in development. The first was announced in April 2023 and is being developed for Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max streaming service, with plot details being kept under wraps. The second is the aforementioned Young Sheldon spinoff sequel series that will follow Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan), his wife, Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment), and their daughter, CeeCee. The series is set to premiere during the 2024-25 television season on CBS.
