Young Sheldon Season 7 May Have Already Teased What The Next Big Bang Theory Spinoff Is About

A brand new image from the set of Young Sheldon season 7 may have already teased what the premise of the next The Big Bang Theory spin-off is.

The Big Bang Theory‘s next spin-off may have been teased by a new Young Sheldon season 7 image. In May 2024, Sheldon and the rest of the Cooper family will bid farewell to their most loyal followers as Young Sheldon season 7 wraps up with season 7. Despite its continued popularity, the family comedy’s end is motivated by the established The Big Bang Theory canon, which mandates that Sheldon moves from Medford, Texas to Pasadena, California at the end of its upcoming final year at East Texas Tech. While The Big Bang Theory franchise is seemingly looking at a break, it will eventually return.

Young Sheldon has not only kept the universe alive since The Big Bang Theory ended in 2019, it has made sure that it thrived and remained at the forefront of pop culture. While the series started with the majority of focus on its titular character, it diversified its storytelling, which makes it appealing even to those who weren’t exactly fans of the nerd-centric sitcom. Boasting a more grounded approach to its narrative, it has become a proper family comedy-drama, especially in its last two seasons. Production for the shortened Young Sheldon season 7 has started, offering a sneak peek at what to expect from its final year.

Young Sheldon Season 7’s Update Intro May Include Mandy & Cece

A set group photo also features Emily Osment carrying a Baby Cece stand-in.

As production kicks off, the Young Sheldon cast assembles on the set to film what appears to be the new intro for its send-off year. In a new behind-the-scenes image shared by Raegan Revord, the core Cooper family get-together, as well as, the show’s notable producers Steve Holland and Steve Molaro in front of its signature backdrop. Lance Barber, Zoe Perry, Revord, and Montana Jordan are all dressed as their characters. Meanwhile, Iain Armitage’s Sheldon wears his usual plaid shirt with a bow tie, cowboy boots, and briefcase, which is further indication that it is going to be for Young Sheldon season 7’s new opening video.

Interestingly, however, the group photo also features Emily Osment carrying a baby prop, which is likely a stand-in for Baby Cece. Given this, it’s possible that Mandy and her newborn daughter will be included in the updated version of the Young Sheldon season 7 promotional video. For context, Georgie’s fiancée gave birth to their firstborn in season 6. Despite the initial kerfuffle about their unexpected pregnancy that brought about the Coopers, Baby Cece’s arrival gave the family a big cause for celebration. She was only intermittently featured throughout the year, but she could play a bigger role in season 7.

Why Young Sheldon Adds Georgie’s Family To Season 7 Intro

Georgie and Mandy are finally in a stable relationship in the Young Sheldon season 6 finale.

As a prequel series, Young Sheldon is beholden to what was revealed about Sheldon’s childhood in Texas. Admittedly, it hasn’t been the best at preserving continuity, creating various plot inconsistencies over the years. That being said, the writers would occasionally come up with original storylines that don’t contradict what was established in its parent series, and Georgie and Mandy’s romance is arguably the best of them. Before Mandy’s arrival, Georgie was going through some major life changes, having decided to drop out of school to start working full-time. Their unexpected pregnancy put them through the wringer, which spilled into the rest of the Coopers.

After everything they have been through, Georgie and Mandy are finally in a stable relationship in the Young Sheldon season 6 finale. They’re engaged to be married and are expected to tie the knot in the show’s final season, and while it’s difficult to be sure if they will actually tie the knot, it’s one of the most anticipated plots in the series’ final year. Considering how assimilated Mandy has been with the Coopers and Young Sheldon‘s shift to become more of a family show, it only makes sense that she and Baby Cece are included in the show’s intro video.

Aside from the role Mandy and Baby Cece play in Young Sheldon season 7, their inclusion in the updated intro may be an indication of a bigger future for them and Georgie. After years of rumors, Warner Bros. Television and studio-based Chuck Lorre Prods. are finally coming up with another show set in The Big Bang Theory universe, although it remains uncertain what it may be about. At this point, the project is still in its infancy, but Mandy and Georgie’s story beyond Young Sheldon offers a great premise for a brand-new spin-off, especially considering how much their story has resonated with the public.

Mandy & Cece’s Young Sheldon Season 7 Intro Appearance Breaks Tradition

It’s a testament to how much Young Sheldon has significantly evolved in season 6.

For the past six seasons, Young Sheldon has basically used the same introductory video. It involves the core Cooper family members standing tall with Sheldon coming in with his signature prequel ensemble. The inclusion of Osment and the stand-in Baby Cece effectively breaks this tradition, which is a testament to how much the show has significantly evolved in season 6. In any case, it only makes sense to acknowledge the shift in its storytelling, given how effective it has been Young Sheldon may be ending at the height of its popularity but at least it has one final year to fully embrace its ensemble nature.

What Young Sheldon’s Mandy & Cece Intro Appearance Means For Season 7

It’s imperative that Young Sheldon doesn’t gloss over Mandy and Georgie’s storyline.

There are several plot lines that need to be addressed in Young Sheldon season 7. That includes George’s impending death, and maybe even his cheating scandal, albeit retroactively, Missy’s expected redemption, and Sheldon’s final year in college at East Texas Tech. The writers have their work cut out for them, considering its shortened upcoming run against the sheer number of narratives that it needs to tackle. Given this, they may have to cut out some plots to ensure that it will be able to tackle its biggest stories. That being said, it’s imperative that Young Sheldon doesn’t gloss over Mandy and Georgie’s storyline.

Even if the couple’s arc doesn’t get tackled in the upcoming The Big Bang Theory second spin-off, Mandy and Baby Cece being part of the new Young Sheldon season 7 intro is an indication that they will be major players in its final season. Granted that the nerd-centric sitcom revealed that Mandy and Georgie eventually break up in the future, for the sake of its story in the prequel, it is imperative that the show leaves them in a great place. Otherwise, they risk disappointing a portion of their fan base who are invested in the couple’s plot.
