What MCU Star Kat Dennings Thinks Of 2 Broke Girls Being Cancelled

Led by Marvel star Kat Dennings and ‘Hello, My Name is Doris’ actress Beth Behrs, ‘2 Broke Girls’ had a six-season run of twists and turns — and many a delicious cupcake and politically incorrect joke. The series, created by comedian Whitney Cummings and ‘Sex and the City’ director and writer Michael Patrick King, introduced one of the most unlikely waitressing and best friend duos in TV history: Dennings’ sardonic Max Black and Behrs’ former rich girl Caroline Channing. In the first episode, the two, very different, but equally broke women decide to combine Max’s baking skills and Caroline’s financial intuition to start their cupcake business. In 2017, however, that dream was abruptly brought to an end when the show was given the ax. Fans learnt Max and Caroline wouldn’t return for a seventh season, but how did the show’s stars react?

Following news of the cancellation, Dennings and Behrs released a joint statement on their social media to thank fans and voice their sadness.

“We’ve had a wonderful 6 seasons as Max and Caroline and we thank all of you for watching and enjoying it along with us,” the message reads.

A ‘2 Broke Girls’ Special: Kat Dennings Would Love To See It
As the show was suddenly canceled, Dennings, Behrs and the creator didn’t have the chance to wrap things up on their own terms.

At the time, Dennings said she would be on board to reprise the role of Max for a special episode to tie up all loose ends.

“Maybe one day we’ll wrap it all up with a two-hour special where we see all of these things happen,” the MCU star told ‘Yahoo’ in 2017.

“I would love that. I think the people that watched the show for so many years deserve some closure, and I would love to give that to them,” she added.

Beth Behrs Agrees With Kat Dennings On Abrupt Ending
Recently, Behrs echoed her co-star’s feelings in an IG Live interview with ‘HollywoodLife’.

“Kat and I always talk about how we never got to say goodbye,” she said in May this year.

“They sort of canceled us. Nobody was expecting it, including the writers, so we never got to see what happened to the girls, which was kind of a bummer,” she continued.

Behrs also said that “most shows know they have an end to them, and they actually get a chance to go out on what they would want to leave the audience with,” while ‘2 Broke Girls’ wasn’t afforded this chance.

Dennings Was “Scared” To Jump On Another Comedy After ‘2 Broke Girls’
Understandably, Dennings wasn’t too thrilled to star on another TV show after ‘2 Broke Girls’ was canceled suddenly.

“After ‘2 Broke Girls’ ended, I was a little bit scared to do another TV show, just because I didn’t even know what I wanted to do next,” she told ‘BuzzFeed’ in February this year, discussing her new TV show ‘Dollface’.

“Then, I really loved the pilot script [of ‘Dollface’]. Basically, my manager said, ‘Margot Robbie [who is an executive producer on the show] wants you to read a script.’ And I was like, ‘Okay! Sounds good! Whatever it is, I’ll do.’

Dennings also added: “So, of course, having Margot Robbie involved was a no-brainer. It was such a good jumping off point. I could see so many seasons coming out of it. It just felt like the right thing. It has such a unique vibe. Yeah, that’s how it happened: Margot Robbie wants you to read a script. That was it.”
