What is the fate of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman?

Gal Gadot said that the future of the series has not been decided yet.

The fate of DC’s “Wonder Woman” series, starring actress Gal Gadot, is still a big question. Recently, there have been many shares from Gal Gadot herself, DC leaders such as Games Gunn and Peter Safran, confirming that they will work together on “Wonder Woman 3”. However, according to Variety’s source, this is just information to reassure public opinion.

Part 3 of the DC heroine series is not currently in development at DC Studios and James Gunn himself, as well as Peter Safran, are not listed in any projects related to “Wonder Woman” in the new DC Universe except for the previously announced “Paradise Lost” prequel series for Max.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Gal Gadot said that the future of the series is still undecided: “I love playing Wonder Woman, it’s been a valuable experience for me. According to James and Peter, we will do ‘Wonder Woman 3’ together.”

“I was invited to a meeting with those two talented directors. They said: ‘Wonder Woman is in the best hands, we will do this movie with you. We like you as Wonder Woman, so you don’t have to worry about anything,'” the actress continued.

Sources said that DC has not promised anything to Gal Gadot for the third installment of the series, nor has there been any discussion about Gadot’s Wonder Woman continuing to appear in the new DC Universe.

James Gunn and Peter Safran held a presentation earlier this year to introduce the first films in their new DC Universe, such as “Superman: Legacy.”

Gal Gadot played Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s DC Universe. She first appeared in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” before getting two solo movies: “Wonder Woman” and “Wonder Woman 1984.” Gadot’s Wonder Woman also appeared in “Justice League” and had small scenes in DC movies like “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.” Her two solo “Wonder Woman” movies were directed by Patty Jenkins. The two were developing “Wonder Woman 3,” which was put on hold before James Gunn and Peter Safran were appointed as the new heads of DC Studios.

In December of last year, “Wonder Woman 3” suddenly collapsed after Warner Bros. executives rejected director Jenkins’ plans for the sequel. Jenkins publicly withdrew from the project. The event came days after Gunn and Safran took control of DC Studios and announced they would revamp the DC Universe. Multiple reports claimed that Jenkins had refused to rework “Wonder Woman 3” to fit Gunn and Safran’s DC Universe, leading to her departure.

“I never gave up. I was willing to consider anything they asked, but understand that at this point there is nothing I can do to move the project forward. DC is facing changes they must make, so this is a very difficult decision at this time,” Jenkins shared on Twitter.

About an hour after Jenkins posted his announcement, Gunn voiced his support: “I have always felt professional working with you.”

In January of this year, when Gunn and Safran met with the press to introduce the first chapter of their new DC Universe (called “Gods and Monsters”), they announced a single project involving Wonder Woman. It’s called “Paradise Lost,” a prequel series for Max. The series is described as similar to “Game of Thrones,” taking place on the island of Themyscira before Wonder Woman was born.
