THE WOMEN OF TWO AND A HALF MEN: THEN AND NOW

Judith “Judy” Harper-Melnick’s first appeareance on the show was in its very first pilot episode.

Judy is Jake’s mother and Alan’s ex-wife.

Marin Hinkle (Judith Harper-Melnick): Then

A somewhat superficial and neglectful mother, Judy’s biggest part in Alan’s life is as the recepient of his alimony payments – which he finally gets to stop paying after she marries Jake’s pediatrician. The two later divorce, after she discovers he is conducting an affair with his receptionists – but regardless of her marital status, Judy continues to be present throughout the series.

Marin Hinkle (Judith Harper-Melnick): Now

Marin Hinkle has been acting since the early 1990s – mostly in theater.

Her first major television role was on the ABC drama series, Once and Again, in 1999, where she played the character of Judy Brooks for a total of 58 episodes.

Following her time on Two and a Half Men, Hinkle made several guesy appearances on shows like ER, House and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

In recent years, she’s landed roles on shows like Speechless, where she plays Dr. Miller, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, where she plays the part of Rose Weissman.

Courtney Thorne-Smith (Lyndsey McElroy): Then

Lyndsey McElroy was Alan’s on/off girlfriend from season 7 until the end of the show. Their relationship was complicated by the fact that her son, Eldridge, was best friends with Jake. Though she had genuine feelings for Alan, their relationship was plagued by bad drinking habits and attention towards other men, including Walden. Lyndsey’s drinking problem manifests in al sorts of ways – and eventually has her vomitting all over the inside of Walden’s private jet, to her great embarassment.

Courtney Thorne-Smith has had a long career in the entertainment business.

Her first film appearance was in 1986’s Lucas, alongside Winona Ryder – and future Two and a Half Men star, Charlie Sheen.

She also starred in Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise, as well as in Chairman of the Board, opposite legendary comedian Carrot Top

On TV, before Two and a Half Men, she’s appeared in shows like Melrose Place, Ally McBeal and According to Jim.

In recent years, she’s starred in ABC’s sitcom Fresh Off the Boat, as well as in the leading role of Emma Fielding in three of Hallmark’s Emma Fielding Mysteries television films.
