The Office’s Brian Baumgartner makes $1,000,000 on Cameo as Kevin Malone: ‘It’s been very rewarding’

Brian Baumgartner has revealed he has made $1million (£741,000) from Cameo, making him one of the platform’s most successful stars.

The actor, 48, who played the bumbling accountant Kevin Malone on The Office USA, has proved to be a favourite for fans of the show to send video messages to one another from him.

The star charges £167 per personal message or £1,850 for corporate messages, and the demand for messages from him has made it a very lucrative earner for Brian.

He told the BBC: ‘Here’s how I view Cameo. This is not about me, or about getting a message from me. I view it as an attempt from two people who want to make a connection.’

Explaining that it might be a father and daughter who used to watch the show together reconnecting after she left for college, he added: ‘They want to make a connection so they give this message from me because it brings them back to a moment that they shared together.

‘As long as I keep focused on that, and how much people seem to be enjoying it, then it’s been, actually, very rewarding.’

Cameo is a platform where fans can buy personalised video messages from a host of their favourite celebrities.

Brian’s earnings were confirmed in September by Cameo CEO Steven Galanis, who told The Hollywood Reporter that Brian was one of their biggest stars.

After the news was revealed, Brian told The Hollywood Reporter in September that he was initially hesitant about opening an account.

He explained: ‘I finally decided to give it a try. I know this sounds Pollyanna or politically correct, but I was on a very popular beloved television show.

‘There’s a comedy that I’m known for, which is helpful, but really what happened during this time is that people wanted to make a connection. It’s not really about me. I’m really the person who gets two people together.
