The Nanny’s Daniel ‘Niles’ Davis reveals ONE major storyline he says makes no sense in the hit sitcom… and it might surprise you

The Nanny was one of the biggest sitcoms of the 1990s.

And although the show was well-received by viewers over its six seasons, there was one major plot twist that Daniel Davis, who played British butler Niles, never quite understood.

Speaking to news.com.au, the 74-year-old actor admitted that he was not a fan of his character ending up with longtime rival C.C. Babcock at the end of the series.

“To tell you the truth, that’s the only part I’ve never actually bought,” he said.
C.C. and I was so tired – I didn’t believe we would eventually get married. But I had to play it, because that’s what they wrote… I don’t think I’ve ever expressed that to anyone before!’
He added: ‘I guess they just want to tie up loose ends.’

Daniel admitted that he hopes that the romantic storyline between Niles and C.C. was meant to be a spin-off series for the pair, but that never happened.
The pair’s longstanding feud has been one of the biggest sources of comedy throughout The Nanny’s six seasons, with both Niles and C.C. share mutual hatred.

However, things eventually began to thaw between the couple and by the final season, Niles proposed to C.C.

The first episode of The Nanny tells the story of her fortune, Fran Fine, played by Fran Drescher, meets the wealthy Sheffield family.
After her boyfriend Danny breaks up with her and kicks her out of his bridal shop at one point, Fran finds herself selling makeup door-to-door.

That’s when she accidentally rang the bell at the Sheffield home, where a mix-up allowed her to interview for the position of nanny for the family.

Although initially reluctant, Maxwell Sheffield, played by Charles Shaughnessy, hires her to care for his three children.
