‘The Nanny’: Charles Shaughnessy is married to wife Susan Fallender

Actor and star of the 90s sitcom The Nanny, Charles Shaughnessy, is married to actress and entertainer Susan Fallender. The couple was married before the movie that made Shaughnessy a household name first premiered.

Charles Shaughnessy, known to most for his roles on The Nanny and Mad Men, is starring in Stage West’s current production of Game Show.

The original cast of The Nanny reunited to read the pilot episode via zoom as a “pandemic treat” for fans. Fran Drescher originally featured the reading on her Twitter page last week. In response to a fan asking for The Nanny to be brought to the streaming service, the star wrote: “Please wait! We have a surprise for you! Announcement this week! Keep stable!”

As some fans may have hoped, this announcement was not that the show would be on the streaming service. That’s the cast that will be doing the pilot’s virtual table read. Shaughnessy plays Maxwell Sheffield in The Nanny. He also worked with Drescher on Living With Fran, where he played her ex-husband.

In 1983, Shaughnessy proposed to Fallender over a phone call while he was in London and she was in California.

They spent their honeymoon in a hotel room in downtown Los Angeles because neither of them had regular, stable jobs or a source of income at the time. According to AmoMama, both have to live with their families for a while after getting married before getting their own house.

Before Shaughnessy began work on The Nanny, they were financially secure enough to have their own home. Shaughnessy first worked on Days of Our Lives from 1984 to 1982. His character’s relationship with Patsy Pease’s character made the pair a superhero couple on the soap and live renewed interest in Days.

Since getting married, they have had two children together. Both of their children are now grown, the eldest, Jenny, born in 1990, and the youngest, Madelyn, born in February 1995.
