The Fuller House cast reveals why the Olsen twins opted out of the reboot

Full House fans are looking forward to the return of a timeless sitcom — minus two familiar faces.

The reunion series Fuller House premieres on Netflix on Feb. 26, but Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen won’t be making an appearance. The cast has a cover story in People, and reporters weren’t shy about asking what happened to our favorite twins.
Executive producer Bob Boyett told People that the twins just weren’t ready for a return to TV with Fuller House. “Ashley said, ‘I have not been in front of a camera since I was 17 and I don’t feel comfortable acting.’ Mary-Kate said, ‘It would have to be me because Ash doesn’t want to do it. But the timing is so bad for us.’”

Dave Coulier thinks the age difference between the Olsens and the rest of the cast may have something to do with it. “They’re family members,” he said, “But I think they have a different perspective. When we get together and we reminisce, they were babies [at the time]. So they don’t share those same memories. I can’t really speak for them but I would understand why they don’t have the same sentiments that we all do.”

The twins have careers as designers of their clothing lines The Row and Elizabeth and James. In the interview, the cast spoke with support of their decision not to come back. No shade necessary!

John Stamos told People, “Lori [Loughlin] was talking to me about the twins and said, ‘They just won a CFDA award.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s like winning an Oscar.’ It was them and Tom Ford. I get where they’re at.”
