The Office may have ended more than a decade ago, but it’s still changing lives.

While traveling at the Portland International Airport, Rainn Wilson, who plays fan-favorite Dwight Schrute in the NBC sitcom, received a heartfelt letter from a fan.

The sweet message, penned by a flight attendant named Melanie, read: “The Office got me through some of the darkest days of my life. I can’t thank you enough for that.”

Wilson, 58, shared a photo of the note on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, along with the story behind it — and a sweet tribute to his Office family.

“I didn’t even see who dropped this on my lap at the PDX airport, but I greatly appreciate the sentiment, flight attendant Melanie of Alaska Airlines,” he wrote. “So humbled to be a part of a show that affected, touched, comforted and inspired. And continues to do so! It’s so f—ing rare.”

“A continuous thank you to the whole Office family, cast, writers, crew and especially AUDIENCE!” he continued, adding that “this is not an open invitation to give me notes on napkins!”

The actor recently had another experience with a fan of the beloved mockumentary series while traveling.

During a flight last April, The Office star filmed a funny clip of his seatmate watching the hit series, completely unaware that Dwight himself was sitting in the next seat over.

Wilson was essentially unrecognizable on the Delta flight in a face mask, hat and headphones. (He was also not wearing glasses — a key accessory of his quirky Office character.)
