No, Lisa Kudrow is not adopting Matthew Perry’s dog despite reports

Despite reports, Lisa Kudrow is not adopting Matthew Perry’s dog, because he didn’t have one at the time of his death.

Earlier this week, rumors circulated that Kudrow would take on the responsibility, but a source tells People it’s simply not true.

Perry, however, did own a doodle mix named Alfred at one point with ex Molly Hurwitz. The pair began dating in 2018, got engaged in November 2020 and later split in June 2021.

“Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them,” Perry told People at the time of their breakup. “I wish Molly the best.”

Hurwitz broke her silence on Perry’s passing in an Instagram

“He would love that the world is talking about how talented he was. And he really was very talented,” Hurwitz, a 32-year-old literary manager, captioned a photo of the late “Friends” alum.

“As the ‘Friends’ reunion was approaching, we rewatched the show together. ‘F – – k, I was so good!!!…See what I did there???’ We rewound and studied scenes. Our respect and appreciation of humor is something that connected us. Being with him as he rediscovered his brilliance was magical.”

Hurwitz continued, “But, I obviously knew that man in a very different way, too. While I loved him deeper than I could comprehend, he was complicated, and he caused pain like I’d never known. No one in my adult life has had a more profound impact on me than Matthew Langford Perry. I have tremendous gratitude for that, for everything I learned from our relationship.”

She went on to note that she felt “relief” that the actor was “at peace.”

Perry, who struggled with alcohol and drug addiction for years, died of an apparent drowning at his California home on Saturday. His autopsy has been completed, but a cause of death has been “deferred” as the coroner has ordered more tests, including for toxicology.

More grim details on Perry’s death emerged on Monday, with The Post confirming that Perry was found underwater and not breathing at the time of the incident.

The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at 4:07 p.m. and the Los Angeles Police Department at 4:10 p.m.

“An adult male patient was deceased prior to first response arrival,” the LAFD said in a statement obtained by The Post. “The patient was found by a bystander who had re-positioned the victim where the head was out of water.”

The statement continued: “Firefighters pulled the victim out of the jacuzzi and did a quick medical assessment to find he was deceased.”

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer said in their statement, obtained by People. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

“In time we will say more, as and when we are able,” the statement continued. “For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends and everyone who loved him around the world.”
