Next Full House Spinoff Release Timeline Addressed By Jodie Sweetin

Full House’s Stephanie, Jodie Sweetin, reveals when the family sitcom’s next spinoff may happen after Netflix’s Fuller House ended in 2020.

Jodie Sweetin teases when the next Full House spinoff may happen. The beloved family sitcom from the late ’80s to the early ’90s was first revived in 2016 via Netflix’s spinoff sequel Fuller House, which ran for five seasons before it ended in 2020. Due to the sitcom’s enduring popularity, thanks to its availability on streaming platforms, not to mention TV reruns, calls for another Full House spinoff have been going on for quite some time now.

While there are no concrete plans for a Fuller House follow-up, Sweetin, who played Stephanie in the show, has a good idea of when the project may actually happen. Speaking with E! News, the actor reinforces her idea of a The Golden Girls-inspired Full House spinoff, further explaining why the premise would work. She goes on to reveal when the public could expect a Fuller House follow-up, though fans might not be thrilled with her timeline. Read Sweetin’s answer below:

Who knows what can happen, I’m not opposed to it. If you would have asked us 20 some years ago if we would do a reboot of Full House we would have been like, ‘No, probably not.’ So give it another 20 years, we’ll see what happens.

What The Next Full House Spinoff Could Be About

Fuller House cast

Considering Sweetin’s timeframe, The Golden Girls-themed Full House spinoff sounds like the perfect way to do it. According to the actor’s original pitch, the next offshoot could see DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy still living together, albeit in Miami, sharing a house there like Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia did. The problem with this is that it would mean their respective family lives would have to end in some sort of tragedy, like a divorce or the death of a spouse. Otherwise, it wouldn’t make sense for all of them to isolate from the rest of their families.

For what it’s worth, the majority of the Full House cast wants to do another spinoff. Despite the death of Danny actor Bob Saget earlier this year, many of the actors think they could still bring back the Tanners on the small screen. In fact, Dave Coulier claims it would be something the late comedian would have wanted. Although, it’s worth noting that John Stamos has a different stance on the matter, saying he isn’t interested in revisiting Full House now that Saget is gone.

There may not be official plans for another Full House spinoff at this point, which actually makes sense, as many of the show’s cast members are currently busy pursuing other things. But just because no one seems to actively advocate for the idea doesn’t mean that it will never happen. Hopefully the wait won’t be as long as Sweetin predicts, though.
