Fuller House Season 6 May Not Include Its Best Characters

Fuller House Season 6 May Not Include Its Best Characters

If the potential Fuller House season 6 finally pushes through, the project may very well not include two of the best characters from Full House.

The proposed Fuller House season 6 may not include two of the best characters from Full House. After five seasons, Netflix pulled the plug on Fuller House which even shocked some cast members who were convinced that it would at least have one more year. Since then, there have been persistent calls for the Tanners’ story to continue via Fuller House season 6 on a different platform or network. If the potential season 6 does finally get the green light from another studio, however, it may not feature the best Tanner family members from the original Fuller House ensemble which would be very disappointing.

In Netflix’s revival of the cult favorite sitcom, the Tanners returned to the small screen to continue the legacy of their family. In it, DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy take the center stage as they navigate adulthood, raising kids, dealing with unexpected tragedies, and figuring out their love lives. Meanwhile, the older cast of Danny, Jesse, and Joey functioned as recurring characters. Michelle didn’t return to Fuller House because Mary-Kate and Ashley refused to revisit their acting days. If the Full House spin-off moves forward with another season, it may not feature two more beloved characters.

Fuller House Season 6 May Not Include Uncle Jesse and Stephanie

While the majority of the cast wants to do Fuller House season 6, John Stamos and Jodie Sweeting aren’t on board with it. Stamos has declined the idea of returning to the Full House franchise because he no longer wants to do it without Danny Tanner actor, Bob Saget, who unexpectedly died in 2022. Meanwhile, Sweeting sounded on the fence about potentially reprising her role. Instead, Jodie Sweeting has floated the potential for a new Full House spin-off that may happen in 20 years but not any time in the near future. This means that if Fuller House season 6 is to push through now, she will likely decline the chance to play Stephanie again.

Stamos’ decision to opt out of another Full House show makes sense. He has been vocal about struggling since Saget died, although he has been processing it differently from some of his old co-stars who believe that the Danny Tanner actor would have wanted them to continue the legacy of the show. Sweeting’s stance on the matter may be more complex as she’s rumored to have had a falling out with Full House co-star Candace Cameron-Bure about their differing opinions on same-sex relationships.

Why Fuller House’s Jesse and Stephanie Are Its Best Characters

Full House copied its parent series’ premise. However, while DJ’s Fuller House arc was inspired by Danny’s, Stephanie’s was patterned on Jesse’s story. This is the reason why Jesse walked Stephanie down the aisle during her wedding. Both had clear, similar arcs: they started as fun-loving parental figures in the family who navigated their careers as musicians and eventually got married and had kids. Despite everything they’ve gone through, it seems like they still have a lot of stories left to tell. Fuller House season 6 can show more of Jesse’s relationship with Becky and their new daughter Pamela, while the show can tackle Stephanie’s miracle pregnancy.

Fuller House Future Update Makes The Best Spinoff Idea More Likely

The latest update about the future of Netflix’s Fuller House increases the chances of the best Full House spin-off idea actually happening.

One Fuller House future update makes the best idea for the next Full House spin-off more possible. Netflix’s revival efforts for the family sitcom only ran for five seasons. Its cancelation came as a shock even for Fuller House actors, who were convinced that the show still had at least one more year before ending. This fueled interest in seeing more of the Tanners, whether through a direct continuation with Fuller House season 6 or a different Full House spin-off. Based on an update regarding the efforts to bring the Tanners back into the small screen, it sounds like the latter option is increasingly getting more likely.

Amid persistent calls to see more of the Tanners, Stephanie actress Jodie Sweetin offers an idea of when the next Full House spin-off may release. According to her, the potential project may not happen until after 20 years. This may seem like a letdown for those hoping that it will come sooner, but it’s also the perfect timeline to do The Golden Girls-inspired Full House offshoot. The idea was previously suggested by Sweetin herself and would see, DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy still living together, albeit in Miami, sharing a house there like Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia did on the groundbreaking ’80s sitcom.

Why A Golden Girls-Esque Spinoff Is Perfect For Full House’s Future

The next Full House spin-off has an ample amount of potential when it comes to possible plot ideas. Fuller House left a couple of loose plot lines that the franchise can take advantage of. That includes the new set-up at the Tanner household where all three families live after DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy’s triple wedding. Otherwise, the show can also focus on a single character, the way the Netflix show did with DJ. The Golden Girls-inspired Full House spin-off is arguably the best option out there, however. For starters, it allows separation from Fuller House which was canceled in 2020. Secondly, it puts a different spin on the franchise’s home-sharing theme.

Strictly copying The Golden Girls‘ premise may be secretly tragic, however, as it would mean that the girls would either be widowed, separated or broke, as those are the reasons why Dorothy, Rose, and Blanche became roommates in the first place. However, if the proposed Full House spin-off tweaks the narrative to make it more lighthearted, it could actually work. It would be interesting to see how DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy deal with growing old and being empty-nesters — something that hasn’t been tackled in the TV franchise.

Will Another Full House Spinoff Really Happen?

Fuller House cast

The majority of the Full House cast wants to do another reboot to continue the legacy of the show. The problem is, some actors aren’t interested in it — at least for now. John Stamos said that he doesn’t want to do it without Bob Saget, who tragically passed earlier in 2022. Meanwhile, based on her provided timeline, it seems like Sweetin is also on the fence about a potential further show or reboot. Whether or not another Full House spin-off moves forward without either or both of them is unsure, but it will be difficult to explain Stephanie and Uncle Jesse’s absence, especially with Michelle no longer around in Fuller House.
