Courteney Cox’s unpainted kitchen cabinets tap into an organic trend set to influence how we decorate

Courteney Cox has been spending a lot of time in her kitchen lately. From cooking with chefs to showing off products from her HomeCourt line, the room is definitely a hub for the Friends star – and for good reason. The space is sleek yet warm, with floor-to-ceiling cabinets and deep charcoal countertops.

We are particularly drawn to the cabinetry, which comes in an unpainted wood finish. Painted cabinets are a typical kitchen design choice, but wood leans into the modern organic trend in a big way.

‘The great outdoors and all its natural beauty are taking precedence within our homes,’ says Grazzie Wilson, Head of Creative at Ca’Pietra. The expert sat down to discuss the kitchen trends that will impact how we decorate this 2024. ‘From color palettes to materials, we just can’t get enough of it, and with good reason. We associate outside with nature, well-being, and health, and so it makes sense to want to bring that into our kitchens.’

‘From its warming colors through to its abundance of texture, we’re
leaving our kitchen cabinets unpainted and turning to wood worktops,’ she says. ‘We’re also considering it for our flooring, but it can take a lot of upkeep, especially in kitchens that see a lot of action.’

If you’re hopping on board the natural cabinetry train, choosing wood can be quite daunting. Varieties are abundant, and the best way to select one is by thinking about which aesthetic you would like to achieve overall.

‘The wood you choose to bring the trend to life is a personal one,’ Grazzie says. ‘Are you the rough and rustic sort who likes their wood full of character and raw appeal? If the answer is “yes,” take a look at Beach Hut, which works well with painted shaker kitchens but also uber-trendy stainless-steel ones. If you’re more about Scandi decor, look to wood effect porcelain tiles like Chateau or Chatham Porcelain if you’re after something a little more traditional.’
