Colin Jost was forced to joke about wife Scarlett Johansson on ‘Weekend Update.

The joke may have landed him in hot water with his wife of nearly 4 years.
Saturday Night Live wrapped up its 49th season on May 18, and to mark the occasion, Weekend Update hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost revived their ongoing segment as they awarded exchange jokes with each other. And one of the pranks may have gotten Jost in trouble with his wife, actress Scarlett Johansson.

“Tonight is our season finale and we have a tradition of Che and I reading jokes to each other,” Jost explained at the beginning of the segment, when his co-host interjected: “ We forced each other to read funny stories. atmosphere that the other person has never seen before.”

“Let’s stop clapping,” Jost continued, after the audience began cheering. “The idea was to tell each other lighthearted jokes — mostly supportive jokes that would never affect our summer or our careers.” As an added bonus, Che invited an actual, practicing rabbi to sit in on the segment, before turning the tables on Jost, who was first told a joke about how students walked out of Jerry Seinfeld’s recent commencement speech at Duke.

“I think it’s shameful. In these difficult times, it’s important to support our Jewish friends” the 41-year-old read from the teleprompter before adding, ” That’s why the only chant you’ll hear from me is ‘Free Weinstein’ !”

After exchanging some jokes back and forth, Jost got a joke that may or may not actually ruin his summer. “ChatGPT has released a new voice assistant feature inspired by Scarlett Johansson’s AI character in Her,” he said, referring to his wife’s 2013 Spike Jonze film. “Which I never bothered to watch because without that body what was the point of listening.”

After reading the closing line, Jost smiled and resignedly put his head in his hands.

Johansson, who is known for not being on social media, has yet to weigh in on the joke. But since the couple has been together for seven years and married since October 2020, one would have to imagine that by now she understands that it comes with the territory.
