Charlie Sheen and his longtime Two And A Half Men co-star Angus T. Jones reunited for a scene in the new Max show Bookie — 20 years after they first created magic together on the now-classic sitcom series.
For the new show’s pilot episode — which happens to be Two And A Half Men creator Chuck Lorre’s new show — Sheen and Jones make an appearance in a poker game scene that’s a nod to the pilot episode of their former series.
In the scene, Bookie stars Sebastian Maniscalco and Omar J. Dorsey, who play Danny and Ray on the new comedy series, confront Sheen, who plays a version of himself, at a rehab facility because he owes them money, according to Too Fab.
By the time they find Sheen, he’s playing a game of poker with actors Eugene Byrd, Frankie Jay Allison, and Dan Foster, who were all part of that poker scene from the 2003 pilot.
It turns out, in the wake of their long 12-year feud, Sheen revealed it was Lorre who came up with the idea to do an on-screen reunion.
As Byrd, Foster and Jones all place their bets, Byrd turns to Jones and says, ‘Someone’s feeling lucky.’
‘I don’t need luck to beat you,’ Jones replies, which prompts a few laughs from the group, before Foster asks, ‘What happened to this kid? He used to be so cute.’
‘He grew some,’ Sheen interjects.
In an interview with The New York Post, Lorre, 71, shared how he was able to lure Sheen, 58, and Jones, 30, to do the on-screen reunion.
‘There was a poker scene in the pilot where Angus was 9 years old and he’s annoying the poker players,’ the famed sitcom creator and producer said, before adding how the writers of Bookie decided to add Jones ‘in the game and assembled most of the guys who were in that original scene, just for our own fun.’
Lorre goes on to joke how ‘that little 8-year-old boy in his pajamas is now a lumberjack now,’ in a reference to his full beard and mustache and overall older appearance.
Originally, Lorre thought of putting Sheen’s character in a rehab, but the actor thought ‘that’s an old version of me.’
After asking for his old boss to make an adjustment to the Bookie scene, Sheen says Lorre ‘came up with the idea to put me at rehab, a place I used to go, and I’m running a card game.’
‘Well, if you’re running a card game, why don’t we put the old crew back together from the pilot of Two And A Half Men?’ Lorre responded.
And in the end they were able to pull off recruiting the guys from the original scene 20 years ago.
The Bookie premiere, which dropped on November 30 on Max, also featured a nod to another of the old Two And A Half Men cast, Jon Cryer.
In the scene, Maniscalco’s character Danny asks Sheen’s character if he’s heard from him over the years.
‘Talk to that Jon Cryer much?’ Danny asks, for which Charlie replies, ‘Not for a long time no.’
