‘Backstage sex scene’ causes misunderstanding and controversy in the movie ‘365 Days’

Many viewers believe that the actors actually had sex on set while filming hot scenes in the 18+ movie “365 Days” that is causing a stir on Netflix.

The Polish film shown on the online movie viewing platform Netflix since early June quickly topped the charts in many European countries, the US and even in Vietnam. 365 Days (original title 365 DNI) is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Polish writer Blanka Lipinska, telling the strange love story of Polish girl Laura Biel and handsome Italian mafia boss Massimo. Laura – a beautiful businesswoman – was kidnapped by Massimo on the island of Sicily and forced to love him for 365 days. From fighting back and running away, Laura gradually fell in love with Massimo.

The film is shocking because it is filled with hot scenes, BDSM scenes (sadism – masochism) and real-life naked sex scenes. 365 Days is like the Polish version of 50 Shades of Gray but more intense. Many viewers praised the sex scenes in the film for being beautifully filmed, but many also complained that they felt “overwhelmed” because there were too many fleshly scenes while the pair of characters lacked inner development. In particular, the endless sex scenes on the yacht that fully exposed the bodies of the two actors left viewers in awe. “I don’t think anything can convince me that the 365 Days actors didn’t actually have sex during the scenes on the yacht,” one viewer commented.

However, sharing with Variety, 365 Days cinematographer Bartek Cierlica affirmed that the pair of main actors were just “acting real”. Bartek Cierlica also revealed how the movie was filmed so that the audience feels the “hot” scenes look like real life. “We wanted the camera to be as invisible as possible so they could act on their own, so we used long, very long shots,” the cinematographer said.

Long takes are film sequences made by filming without interruption until switching to another scene. It brings the most real feeling to the audience like they are present in the scene of the movie.

Bartek said that he minimized the number of people on set so that the actors could express themselves naturally: “We created the most intimate atmosphere for the actors. We reduced the studio staff to the point that Because I’m the one holding the camera, I follow the scene closely and try to capture their passion in a natural but beautiful way. We want the sex scene in this movie to be very realistic hear their whispers, panting breaths, drops of sweat, and passion in a natural, realistic way but without crossing the boundaries of porn.”

In response to the opinion that 365 Days overuses “hot” scenes, Bartek Cierlica explained: “Each sex scene in the movie has a different meaning. The two characters’ relationship gradually develops, starting from fear. about the unknown and temptation, then progressing through pure sex with BDSM and ending with love. We want the viewer to participate in the game where Laura is trying to challenge Massimo again and explore her sexuality and sensuality with her.”

The charm of the main actors Michele Morrone and Anna Maria Sieklucka is the plus point of the film, besides many minus points such as superficial script, lack of logic…

365 Days was made by Polish director Barbara Białowąs with acting by 30-year-old Italian actor Michele Morrone and 28-year-old Polish actress Anna Maria Sieklucka. Many fans believe that the two main actors truly love each other in real life to be able to act out such love scenes, but in reality, Anna has a boyfriend and Michele is currently a single father of two children.

This 18+ movie is said to continue the second and third parts according to the three parts of the novel. However, the producer has not announced plans for a sequel. Some sources revealed that the filming schedule for the second part was delayed due to the Covid-19 outbreak in Europe earlier this year.
