FRIENDS fans have heard a lot about the show over the years as its legacy grows each year, but author of the first ever Friends academic book has revealed a new detail about one of Joey Tribbiani’s storylines which Matt LeBlanc did not like.

Friends saw a huge amount of storylines throughout the ten seasons of the show. These stories involved everything from new and crumbling relationships, trouble with family, and even progressing through careers. Over the years since the show has come to an end, viewers have been delving into the details surrounding its production and how things were run behind the scenes.

While it seemed like all of Friends’ actors enjoyed their time on the show, it has now been revealed not every detail was loved by the cast.

 

The book – Friends: A Reading of the Sitcom – includes an unbelievable amount of interviews and anecdotes from people who worked on the show behind the scenes, and analyses of the show, the set, specific episodes, and the actors’ performances.

Express.co.uk recently caught up with Dr Simone Knox, who exclusively told us about one of her chats with Kevin S. Bright – one of the executive producers from Friends – and how Joey actor Matt LeBlanc didn’t want to begin the romance storyline with Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston).

Discussing her conversation with Kevin, Simone explained: “He told us when they first started floating the idea of a storyline involving Joey developing feelings for Rachel that Matt LeBlanc was very uncomfortable with this.

“He said these actors were so invested in their characterisations, and Matt LeBlanc’s objection was: ‘Joey wouldn’t do that.’”

Fans may remember in the show Joey struggled with the guilt of keeping his crush on Rachel a secret from his friend Ross Gellar (David Schwimmer).

Simone went on: “Joey is many things: He’s a womaniser; he is into his food; but he’s also a very loyal friend.
