Full House & Fuller House Home Recently Sold For $5 Million

The iconic San Franciscan home that was used as the exterior shot for the Tanner’s family home in Full House was just sold for $5 million.

The home used for the house’s exterior in Full House, and later Fuller House, was recently sold for over $5 million. Full House is one of the most iconic sitcoms of all time. Children of the late 80s and early-to-mid 90s will recognize the stately Victorian building as the Tanner family’s home. For fans of the show, seeing this house cross-dissolve into scenes of Uncle Jesse walking into the kitchen or DJ and Michelle in their shared bedroom was just as routine as their own family dinners. In 2016, Netflix started the show’s reboot, Fuller House, meaning kids from today’s era also had the chance to meet the Tanner family and see this picturesque house on their screens.

While the outside of the home looks familiar, the interior never made it on screen for the show. Regardless, the spot is still a popular tourist attraction. The building sits in San Francisco’s famous “Postcard Row,” and the house features cement blocks with handprints and signatures from the cast. In 2016, creator and former-producer Jeff Franklin bought the house to restore it to how it looked on the show. He did so by painting the doors red, but neighbors fought back out of fear of increased tourist traffic. He put the house back on the market last summer.

Now someone else owns the house, and they only had to pay $5.35 million for the building. According to TMZ, the house is 3,728 square feet, which – when broken down – means that a single square-foot of the house costs around $1,435. Inside there are three stories, four bedrooms, and an entire suite on its top floor, which features a fireplace, a walk-in closet, a jacuzzi bathtub, and a priceless view of the San Francisco Bay. There is also a quaint fenced-in yard in the back.

Fuller House season 2 premiere date

While the bay windows and brick steps might scream Full House to fans for the show, the Zillow listing for the property had no mention of the house’s fame. The home also has a modern and sleek interior that resembles any other house constructed within the past decade. Whoever sold this property seems to have thought buyers would be more interested in a chic new home over a showroom for 90s nostalgia, which was how Franklin wanted to decorate it when he was the owner. It is unclear if these decisions were made to avoid the spot becoming a tourist attraction or follow market trends. Regardless, the house is undoubtedly a beautiful place. But it is not a location to visit if you want to see the world where the Tanner family lived.

Although the series ended back in 1995, the story has not left the American psyche. The show and its characters have been referenced in music, movies, and other TV shows. Furthermore, the show’s stars have mostly remained in the public eye, some for new projects, and others, like Lori Loughlin, for more unsavory reasons. Full House and Fuller House may have aired their last episodes, but many will always remember the Tanner family and their iconic house.
