The Office: 8 Songs Which Perfectly Represent Each Main Character

The Office has been gracing television screens for over 17 years and audiences never get bored of the Dunder Mifflin paper merchants. What makes the show so watchable is the interesting and unique characters that come back for each episode.

The writers of the show created a cast that had their own clearcut quirks and personality traits, making them easy to recognize and to understand. With that in mind (and 9 seasons worth of getting to know the cast,) each character could be linked to a song because of lyrics that ring true or even a beat that seems to match who they are.

Ryan

His enjoyment for partying and some less-than-savory antics make Calvin Harris’ “Ready For The Weekend” the perfect song for Ryan (and his personality). Admittedly, at his wildest, it probably wouldn’t need to be a weekend for him to go out partying but perhaps it could be said he treated every day as a weekend.

Michael

He’s not the boss from hell, but Michael sure can be an irritating presence for his employees and is often the reason for some of the most cringe-worthy episodes of The Office. Fortunately, people do give him the benefit of the doubt because he just wants to be liked.

As Michael sees himself as more than just a boss (an entertainer, a comedian, Prison Mike, Michael Scarn,) “The Joker” by Steve Miller Band would perfectly represent the many faces of Michael Scott. The lyrics may not include everything he believes he is, but the titular lyric is also a great match for how the Dunder Mifflin boss behaves.

Angela

Angela is known for being very particular and pretty hard to get along with, especially if someone doesn’t meet her unattainable standards, even in relationships.

Andy was a great example of someone who came face to face with Angela’s stringent rules, proving that everything has to be just right for her. So what better song is there than “Perfect” by Fairground Attraction to represent her? The line “Too many people take second best, but I won’t take anything less,” absolutely sums her up. At least she knows exactly what she wants in every aspect of life.

Jim

From the very beginning, Jim and Pam’s relationship was a huge hook for audiences. Eventually getting together, fans were delighted to see the couple blossom and even muddle through their difficult periods.

“Listen To The Man” by George Ezra has beautiful lyrics that would help to calm a partner that is perhaps stressed. “Won’t you listen to the man that’s loving you,” could refer to when Pam was with Roy, but Jim was so much kinder and more loving. Listening to the man that really did love her was exactly what Jim was hoping for.
