What Will The Next Full House Spinoff Be? 5 Possibilities

Three years since Fuller House ended, the clamor for another Full House spin-off persists. Here are several options for another Tanner-centered show.

The clamor for another Full House spinoff continues, and luckily, there are several options for it. Three years after Netflix’s Fuller House ended a five-season run, the Tanner family continues to be beloved, with hopes that they eventually return to the small screen with a brand new show. Several original cast members have expressed their interest to reprise their respective roles, which makes a fresh project more plausible. The fact that there’s also no scarcity of options when it comes to what the next Full House spinoff could be increases the chances that it can happen sooner or later.

In 2016, the Tanners returned to the small screen via Netflix’s spinoff sequel. Most of the original cast members returned with the addition of new key players. Fuller House capitalized on the nostalgia factor by re-hashing its parent series’ premise when DJ also unexpectedly lost a spouse and left to raise three young kids like her dad in Full House. Despite not becoming a critical darling, Fuller House won the hearts of the franchise’s established fans and even expanded its base. So, it makes sense that until now, there is still interest in a possible new Full House spinoff, especially since there are several ways to go about the project.

1. Fuller House Season 6

Seeing DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy walk down the aisle and marry the love of their lives is a good send-off for the Full House spinoff, but it could have easily continued beyond that point with several stories left to tell. Both the producers and actors have been vocal about expecting at least another season order from Netflix, even saving plot lines for Fuller House season 6.

Fuller House season 6 could have also simply continued following the extended Tanner clan as they continue to live together under one roof. For context, Stephanie and Kimmy, alongside their respective families, were about to leave the iconic townhouse and settle in their respective fresh accommodations when they both changed their minds and decided to stay. If a new Full House spinoff gets the green light, it could utilize this plot line as its premise. While the Tanners have been used to living with extended family, it’s safe to say that there will be unforeseen challenges that come with their new set-up.

2.Golden Girls-Inspired Full House Show

Possibly the most surprising spinoff option comes from Jodie Sweetin, who suggests that the next Full House offshoot should be The Golden Girls-inspired. Set two decades after the events of Fuller House, the proposed series will follow a much older DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy, living together in Miami like Dorothy, Rose, and Blanche in the groundbreaking Florida-set sitcom from the mid-80s. This means, however, that the public will have to wait for a while before this idea comes to fruition — if it does, since the Full House girls are still about a decade away from becoming golden girls themselves.

On top of that, there’s also no reason for them to move out of San Francisco anytime soon, given Fuller House’s ending. Narratively, this doesn’t make sense unless a considerable amount of time has passed since the last time that the Tanners were on-screen. It may also be the wisest route moving forward, considering the supposed falling out between Cameron-Bure and Sweetin. Waiting to do The Golden Girls-inspired Full House spinoff gives them time to potentially patch things up with each other.

3.Next Generation Of Tanners Full House

Unlike Full House, which did a great job highlighting its young cast, its offshoot focused mainly on its adult characters. In terms of marketing and storytelling, this made sense since Netflix was mainly catering to existing fans who were already invested in the Tanners. However, it effectively pushed the Fuller House’s kids to the side. Although they were given their respective plots from time to time, they weren’t nearly enough to fully establish their place in the evolving clan. If another Full House spinoff is greenlit, putting the focus on them and their adventures, especially as they all live in one household, would be an intriguing premise.

4.A Stephanie Full House Spinoff

Focusing on Stephanie’s story would have been enough reason to continue with Fuller House season 6 since she was mostly relegated to a supporting role in the first five years of the series, with the spotlight being on DJ. The new Full House spinoff could easily use this as a narrative launching pad, perhaps even incorporating some of the storylines that were scrapped when Netflix canceled Fuller House.

As she fully becomes a mother and a wife to Jimmy Gibbler, the proposed offshoot could finally give the middle Tanner sister her due after playing second fiddle to DJ throughout Fuller House.

A Stephanie-focused offshoot could also make the Full House franchise inclusive if it delves into the character’s sexuality. In Fuller House season 4, Stephanie revealed that she’s bisexual after commenting about once having a girlfriend that lasted longer than a veterinary clinic that was only open for three weeks. The revelation was never brought up again in the series, which is disappointing, but the suggested spinoff can expand on it as she simultaneously becomes a mom of two and a rising musician.

5A Jesse & Becky Full House Spinoff

At the beginning of Fuller House, Jesse and Becky were residing in Los Angeles for their respective jobs. Eventually, they moved back to the Bay Area again to be nearer to the kids and the rest of the Tanner clan. Aside from having two grown-up kids in Alex and Nicky, Jesse and Becky also adopted a daughter named Pamela. Because of Lori Loughlin’s prison stint, Fuller House never got the chance to properly wrap up the couple’s storyline. Now that she’s out and is still good friends with John Stamos, it’s possible that the pair can spearhead the next Full House spinoff as they raise Pamela.
