‘The Office’ Cast: Where Are They Now? ( Part 1)

Years after The Office ended its nine-season run on May 16, 2013, the NBC comedy has remained popular with original and new fans. See what the cast has been up to since the series finale

01. Steve Carell as Michael Scott

The former head of Dunder Mifflin has become one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors since appearing on the first seven seasons of The Office.

While he’s known for his comedic chops, Steve Carell took a more dramatic turn in 2014’s Foxcatcher (for which he received his first Academy Award nomination) and again in the 2018 films Beautiful Boy and Welcome to Marwen. He has also starred on Apple TV+’s The Morning Show, Netflix’s Space Force and FX’s The Patient, in addition to voicing the villainous Gru in the Despicable Me film franchise and Minions spin-offs. Carell earned nine Emmy nominations as producer and actor for The Office, and in 2020, he also received a nomination for his performance as Mitch Kessler on The Morning Show.

Carell has been married to actress Nancy Walls since 1995. They have two children.

02. John Krasinski as Jim Halpert

After leaving The Office, John Krasinski shed his dorky, boy-next-door image and became a bona fide sex symbol: He has starred as CIA analyst Jack Ryan on the Prime Video revival of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan since 2018. Like Carell, Krasinski also ventured into more dramatic film roles, including 13 Hours (2016), Detroit (2017) and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), while also sharing his familiar voice in the animated movies Monsters University (2013), Animal Crackers (2017) and DC League of Super-Pets (2022).

To make his life even sweeter, he married actress Emily Blunt in 2010, and they share two daughters.

In addition to his on-camera roles, Krasinski has had substantial success as a director and producer. He directed the horror film franchise A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II, costarring Blunt, and received three Emmy nominations for producing the series Lip Sync Battle.

03.Jenna Fischer as Pam Beesly

Jenna Fischer moved on from her role as everyone’s favorite receptionist, starring opposite Oliver Hudson on the hit ABC sitcom Splitting Up Together in 2018. Fischer has also appeared in a few films since The Office wrapped, including Brad’s Status (2017) and The 15:17 to Paris (2018).

She and fellow costar Angela Kinsey also started the podcast Office Ladies, dedicated to all things The Office.

Fischer was previously married to writer and director James Gunn, whom she separated from in 2007 after more than six years together. Since 2010, she has been married to screenwriter Lee Kirk (Fun fact: Survivor host Jeff Probst officiated their wedding ceremony.) The couple have two children — son Weston Lee and daughter Harper Marie.

04.Rainn Wilson as Dwight Schrute

It’s hard to imagine Rainn Wilson playing anyone except the neurotic office worker and beet farmer, but he has maintained a steady acting career in the years following The Office, most notably making guest appearances on the series Star Trek: Discovery, Room 104, Transparent and The Rookie as well as a recurring role on Mom and lead role on the Amazon Prime Video sci-fi series Utopia. He has also voiced Superman’s arch-nemesis Lex Luthor in several animated projects.

Wilson has been married to writer Holiday Reinhorn since 1995, and they share son Walter McKenzie together.

05. Ed Helms as Andy Bernard

While starring as the Cornell grad on The Office, Ed Helms found box office success in The Hangover trilogy (where he also showed off his impressive singing voice!). After The Office finale, Helms starred in several films, including comedies like Vacation (2015) and Tag (2018) and dramas like Chappaquiddick (2017). Helms also co-created and starred on the Peacock sitcom Rutherford Falls in 2021.

Helms is married and has a daughter, though he has never publicly disclosed his wife or daughters’ names.

06. B.J. Novak as Ryan Howard

B.J. Novak started as a writer on the sitcom but stepped in front of the camera as the sleazy office temp. Since The Office (for which he received five Emmy nominations as a producer), he has continued both acting and writing. In 2014 he released a collection of short stories titled One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories. He also appeared in supporting roles in the films Saving Mr. Banks (2013), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) and The Founder (2016), as well as wrote, directed and starred in the 2022 comedy film Vengeance.

Novak is BFFs with former The Office costar Mindy Kaling.

07.Mindy Kaling as Kelly Kapoor

Much like her friend Novak, Kaling made the move from the writers’ room to in front of the camera on The Office, starring as the fan-favorite customer service agent. Kaling went on to star on the sitcom The Mindy Project and created the Netflix comedies Champions and Never Have I Ever and The Sex Lives of College Girls on HBO Max. She also lent her instantly-recognizable voice to the animated films Wreck-It Ralph (2012), Mr. Peabody & Sherman (2014), Inside Out (2015) and Velma (2023) and appeared in A Wrinkle in Time (2018), Ocean’s 8 (2018) and Late Night (2019).

Kaling has two children, and Novak is the godfather of daughter Katherine Swati and son Spencer Avu.

08. Angela Kinsey as Angela Martin

Kinsey starred as the petite, cat-loving accountant on the sitcom. In 2018, she made a guest appearance on Splitting Up Together with Fischer before launching their podcast. She has also made guest appearances on shows like New Girl, Fresh Off the Boat, The Real O’Neals and A.P. Bio and starred on the Netflix series Haters Back Off. Kinsey also appeared in the Netflix films Tall Girl (2019) and Tall Girl 2 (2022) and as a guest panelist on MTV’s Deliciousness.

In 2016, Kinsey married actor and baker Joshua Snyder. She was previously married to writer and producer Warren Lieberstein (brother of Paul Lieberstein, who plays Toby on The Office), with whom she shares a daughter.

09. Ellie Kemper as Erin Hannon

Ellie Kemper took the same cheerful attitude she used as the temporary receptionist on The Office and applied it to her performance on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Kemper received two Emmy nominations for playing the titular role on the Netflix series, which ran for four seasons. In 2012, she reunited with her former costar Kaling on The Mindy Project, playing the role of Heather on three episodes.

Kemper also appeared on the big screen in 2014’s Sex Tape and 2021’s Home Sweet Home Alone. She has voiced animated characters from films such as 2016’s The Secret Life of Pets and its 2019 sequel, along with the 2017 films The Lego Batman Movie and Smurfs: The Lost Village.

The actress is a mother of two children with husband Michael Koman.

10. Leslie David Baker as Stanley Hudson

Leslie David Baker traded his unenthusiastic attitude on The Office for a more upbeat tone on 2017’s Puppy Dog Pals. The actor lends his voice to the animated furry friends Frank and Rufus. He has also made guest appearances on shows like Marry Me, Scorpion and Life in Pieces and appeared in the films Wish I Was Here (2014) and The Happytime Murders (2018).

In 2020, Baker launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money to shoot a pilot for The Office spin-off series Uncle Stan.
