20 Fuller House/Full House Cast Secrets You Never Knew.

The return of the classic family TV sitcom seemed to fill a void in all millennials that we didn’t know was actually a void in the first place. Since the premiere of on Netflix, fans of the original family show have been delving into the past in order to relive their youth via D.J., Stephanie, Kimmy, Michelle, Danny, Uncle Jesse, and Joey (and yes, we’re still sad to say that the Olsen twins HAVE YET to film an episode of the reboot). Even though the stories are more new and daring, the feeling the show gives us is still the same.

But did we really know what went on behind the scenes of the original version? Or THIS current version?

Here are 20 secrets a lot of us never knew went on behind the scenes of the beloved sitcom AND its sister reboot.

1.f you follow Candace Cameron Bure’s IG feed, you already are aware that both she and Scott Weinger (who plays D.J.’s love interest Steve in both shows) actually went to Bure’s real-life prom. Now, now, don’t get too excited – the two never actually dated in real life, but they are very close friends and did a lot of things together off-camera.

2. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Lori Loughlin (Becky) is in some pretty deep water when it comes to her daughter Olivia, her college, and some pretty illegal activities. But what you may not know is that Loughlin has said that her acts were because her daughter struggled with her mom’s fame early on. That’s still no excuse.

3.Okay, so John Stamos’ troubled “past” wasn’t that too far in the past. Right before production started on Stamos was arrested for driving under the influence. Though his explanation is pretty believable: He was taking a substance that leans out muscle mass (that he said he was taking for the show).

4.Ratings weren’t so gracious when it came to after the first season was released on Netflix. This was mainly because fans were used to a more “wholesome” show and expected the spin-off to be much of the same. Instead, they tackled much more controversial themes, which, in all honesty, is actually better and more believable in this day and age.

5.In case you didn’t know, some of the same props that were on the original were actually used in the spin-off – including the original living room couch. Turns out, Andrea Barber (Kimmy) was having really bad asthma attacks while filming the first season of thanks to that couch. So now producers keep Andrea as far from the couch as possible.

6.If you’re a diehard fan of either of the two shows, you know that Jodie Sweetin notably hit some rough patches in her life after While her story is a redeeming one where the heroine comes out clean on the other side, a lot of her life parallels Stephanie’s life on along with her redemption.

7.Do you know that it was Stamos’ idea to name his character Jesse? Apparently, Uncle Jesse was supposed to be named Adam and Stamos hated the name so he came up with the name Jesse as a tribute to Elvis’ late twin brother. Also, in the pilot episode of you’ll notice that Jesse’s last name is Cochran, which was changed to Katsopolis later on.

8.It’s amusing that one of the most major connections on the show almost never happened. Apparently, Stamos wasn’t fond of the Olsen twins as babies when they were cast. According to the actor, the duo “cried a lot in the beginning”. Producers even brought in another set of twins, but they cried as well, so they just stuck with the Olsen twins.

9.The Aunt Becky we all know and love now wasn’t exactly supposed to be a long term character on the show. Lori Loughlin was slated to play only six episodes, but her character took off so fast that she became a regular. You can thank her chemistry with Stamos for that one.

10.It seems like everyone wanted to distance themselves as far as they could from the “wholesome” characters they portrayed on the show – including Bob Saget, Stamos, and Dave Coulier. These three did this by diving headfirst into more adult comedy, which seemed to hit millennials hard. Though, they ended up coming full circle by agreeing to appear on

11.While it’s true that Sweetin hit some major life bumps following the actress has since cleaned up her act and is rebooting her career. Which is why it’s strange that Miley Cyrus actually took a shot at Sweetin on Twitter by posting old pics of her with her ex-husband at a club with the hashtag #fullerhouse. Luckily, the tweet was forgotten.

12.This is a well-known story that has circled back around thanks to the reboot: Dave Coulier once dated a young Alanis Morissette and is said to be the subject of her hit single “You Outta Know”. Dave, has, of course, even poked fun at this himself (like when he guest-starred on and made light of the situation).

13. If you didn’t know, creator Jeff Franklin was actually fired from the show recently after people started complaining about his behavior on the set. But not everyone agreed with his firing – Cameron Bure still refers to Franklin as a “dear friend” and that he’s missed around the set by a lot of cast members.

14.This is an “awwww shucks” moment if we’ve ever seen one. So fans will remember that sometimes there would be kids’ artwork hanging up on the refrigerator in the Tanners’ kitchen – turns out that those were actually done at the hands of the twins themselves! It was revealed in a behind the scenes look around the set back in 1993.

15.So, way back when, Franklin’s concept for the show was actually based around three comedians living under the same roof together. However, ABC was in the hunt for more “family-friendly” shows in vain of so Franklin adjusted his idea and that’s when the concept of was born.

16.Even though comedian Bob Saget was Franklin’s first choice to play everyone’s favorite lovable dad, Danny Tanner, he wasn’t available at the timewas set to go into production thanks to having a job on CBS already. John Posey was set to play Danny when Saget was suddenly fired from his job at the time, so Franklin was able to bring him on.

17.Coulier is quite the comedian and it came out on the set ten-fold so much so that Dave actually given free rein to ad-lib plenty of his own lines. “Sometimes – it didn’t happen until season three – in the script, they would let me improve,” Coulier said. “And in the script, it would just say: David will come up with something funny here.”

18.How many young people can say that they actually had their first kiss witnessed by millions of people? Well, some actors, that’s who. Including Candace Cameron Bure. Her first kiss onscreen and in real life was on the episode “13 Candles” when she kissed her on-screen boyfriend Kevin (Scott Curtis).

19.While every other character/actor on the set of both and had to audition in order to win the coveted part, Jodie Sweetin wasn’t one of them. Apparently, Stephanie wasn’t even a character until Franklin saw Sweetin in an episode of and he wrote the role specifically for her. Wow!

20.It was all an accident! Apparently, when he was a guest on the show, Little Richard accidentally slapped Sweetin unintentionally. “I was standing next to him and we were doing this scene where he was playing the piano and he did a big finish with his hands and it was just like, ‘boom,’” Sweetin said. “He felt so bad.”
