Friends fans notice Monica error in classic episode

Friends is the gift that keeps on giving, especially when fans find mistakes and errors all these years later.

Eagled-eyed Friends fans have unearthed a blunder by Courtney Cox’s character Monica Geller, in arguably one of the show’s best episodes – ‘The One With The Embryos’.

In the episode, Monica and Rachel, and Chandler and Joey, go head-to-head in a battle to find out which pair knows the other better. As the game goes on, the stakes get higher until Monica’s apartment is the prize.

On a Friends Reddit thread, the fan noticed a mistake in the dialogue after the girls lose the apartment, and it seems like we’ve all missed it.

“Just after the guys win the trivia game when Rachel is refusing to move, Monica says ‘If we had lost, we would have made them get rid of the birds, right?

“It doesn’t make sense. They did lose. She was probably supposed to say ‘if they had lost’ or ‘if we had won’, right?”

Another fan added: “I had to stop what I was doing immediately and go check. Yup, both the actual dialogue spoken by Monica and the subtitles say ‘if we had lost’. I can’t believe the editors didn’t catch it!”

The main cast – Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer – all got back together for a reunion show on HBO last year, which was an absolute hit with fans.

However, according to Cox, it will be the last.

“I don’t feel like I have closure on it… [but] we’re not gonna do another reunion,” Cox told Faith Hill for Variety’s Actors on Actors series. “Can you imagine? We’ll be like: ‘We’re 80! Let’s go back in!'”

Friends streams on Netflix in the UK, where it also airs daily on Comedy Central. In the US, you can stream the show on HBO Max.
