The Office Miraculously Escapes The Reboot Curse – 5 TV Shows That Should Never Get A Reboot In A Million Years

After the recent speculations that were popping up stating that the iconic cringe comedy sitcom series The Office was getting a reboot, people had a lot of negative opinions about the rumors. Almost the entire fandom was in shambles about this particular speculation being true as they didn’t want to see another version of the show with a different cast.

Thankfully, original series creator Greg Daniels has no plans for recreating the entire show from the ground up (via ScreenRant), which has put the fandom at ease. If not the original cast, then the hypothesized show would’ve just been a hollow husk of its original self. Apart from this iconic series, here are five other memorable TV shows that would not look good if they were to be rebooted today.

1: The Sopranos

The thing that made the superhit crime/drama series The Sopranos such an amazing show was its contemporary take on the Mafia genre. While this category may have been loved in the late 90s and early 2000s, the appeal has since died down. Apart from the show’s nature of depicting organized crime and its problems in the modern world of technology, a reboot would prove needless and unsuccessful.

2: The Wire

Another show that will be pointless if it should receive a reboot. The Wire, though being one of the most amazing and critically acclaimed shows in history, is largely a cult classic reverence from fans rather than a commercial hit for HBO. Apart from that, the show didn’t focus on great and irreplaceable characters, but on themes of modern society that are witnessed in many modern shows, which adds to the unnecessary reboot answer.

3: Breaking Bad

What made Breaking Bad such an iconic series is the exceptional performances of the stars as their respective characters, especially the main cast. Even if the show were to be rebooted with new faces for the characters, the result would be disastrous, to say the least. Apart from that, if they even wanted to expand upon the universe, the sheer cultural impact that the show had on pop culture would make new characters irrelevant without the original cast.

4: FRIENDS

Yet another show that was majorly successful and arguably the best sitcom in history because of its memorable cast and characters. Along with that, even more than 25 years after its release, the show manages to keep finding new audiences among the modern generation, not to mention, other iconic sitcoms that have come after the show which have captured the viewers. Therefore, if FRIENDS announces a reboot, it may not go well with the fans.

5: Mad Men

While the show may have left the audiences wanting more after the final episode, there is no way that Mad Men would be able to put a contemporary twist on this period drama series. With reboots becoming an outlet for modernity in past series, what made the show un-re-creatable is the period of the 60s and 70s in which it was based. Thus, answering the questions left by the series end would not do the show justice.
