The 18+ movie trailer “Fifty Shades of Grey” caused a storm online

Less than 10 days after its release, the first official trailer of the 18+ movie “Fifty Shades of Grey” has reached a record number of views.

On July 24, the first official trailer longer than 2 minutes of the 18+ movie “Fifty Shades of Gray” was posted online with hot scenes that have attracted millions of views online. Youtube, and became the hottest movie trailer in the first week of release this year.

Up to now, the trailer for the movie “50 Shades of Grey” has reached nearly 37 million views on Youtube, surpassing a series of trailers for this year’s blockbuster movies in the first week of release such as “Ninja Turtles” (31 million views), “Godzilla”, “Transformers: Age of Extinction (26.3 million views), “Dumb and Dumber Too” (23.5 million).

With a record number of views, “Fifty Shades of Grey” is currently the movie with the most viewed trailer in 2014. Although not yet released in theaters, it promises to “cause a storm” in cinemas around the world. Because usually, a successful trailer means that the movie will then be noticed by the audience when it arrives in theaters. “Godzilla” and “Transformers” are typical examples when up to now, both films have grossed 498 million USD and 966 million USD respectively globally.

The reason why “Fifty Shades of Grey” is making waves online is because the film is adapted from the best-selling erotic novel of the same name by British female writer E.L. James. This novel series has become the best-selling book on the market and tells the story of the lustful love affair of student Anastasia Steele and handsome director Christian Gray.

The movie version of “Fifty Shades of Grey” had a budget of 40 million USD and was directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. The film stars actress Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele – a naive young girl who decides to become the lover of male protagonist Christian Gray (played by Jamie Dornan).

There is no denying the “hotness” of the movie, but the movie’s trailer is facing heavy criticism from the anti-pornography group Morality in Media. This group accused “Fifty Shades of Grey” of “deceiving the public” by “hiding under a romantic love story to legitimize violence against women.”
