Recently, female singer Duffy wrote a letter asking Netflix to be more responsible when producing content related to kidnapping and pornography.
According to Mail Online, singer Duffy recently sent a letter to Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix, asking the film platform to act more responsibly based on their influence.

Specifically, the female singer believes that Netflix’s 365 Days is disguising “the crimes of kidnapping and sex trafficking” under the guise of “entertainment porn”.

Recently, Duffy revealed to the media that she had been drugged, raped and kidnapped. Therefore, she believes that 365 Days’ coloring of kidnapping will have dangerous consequences in reality.

The 35-year-old singer wants viewers who have watched 365 Days to reflect on the brutality behind the scenes when the scenes were filmed. Duffy also cited evidence of many viewers “begging” Morrone (the male lead) to kidnap them.

“I encourage those who enjoy this film to question the reality of kidnapping, use of force and sexual coercion that exists beneath the glossy layer of fantasy,” the singer wrote.

She called on the head of Netflix to exploit the issue of kidnapping and sex trafficking in what the United Nations called “serious human rights violations”. Closing the letter, Duffy asserted: “When we understand better, let’s do better.”

365 Days is compared by many viewers to “50 shades of gray version”. The film is about mafia boss Don Massimo Torricelli (Michele Morrone) and his infatuation with a girl named Laura Biel (Anna-Maria Sieklucka). The obsession was so great that Torricelli decided to kidnap Biel, promising him 365 days, if she did not love him, she would be allowed to leave.

365 Days is likened to “50 shades of gray version”.
The Polish film has a loose plot, shallow character development and steamy erotic scenes.

Photography director Mateusz Cierlica shared: “I tried to interpret the emotions between two people in a realistic and beautiful way. The production crew wanted the audience to hear whispers or heavy breathing as well as drops of blood.” The sweat and desires of the two main characters are natural and realistic but must not exceed the limit of becoming a porn film.”

On Rotten Tomatoes, 365 Days has an average score of 0 from 12 critics. More than 9,000 viewers gave the film an average of 3.6/10 points on IMDb.

Besides, according to Forbes, the fact that “Fifty Shades error version” reached the top most viewed week is due to Netflix’s algorithm. Just watch for 2 minutes or more, the system will count it as a follow. Therefore, a movie with poor quality like 365 Days easily sits at the top of Netlix.

Duffy is a Welsh singer, songwriter and actor. Her debut album Rockferry (2008) quickly reached number 1 in the UK Albums Chart and became the best-selling album of the year in the UK. In 2009, she won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album.
