365 Days’ is based on the incident where the author was kidnapped by his lover

In February, the English translation of the novel 365 Days written by Blanka Lipińska will be officially released.
The first volume of the novel 365 Days was released in Poland in 2018. In 2020, a film adaptation of the book was released on the online video streaming service Netflix, sparking a worldwide controversy. gender.

The second part of the novel series, That Day, will be released in 2022. Most likely the book will be released at the same time as the sequel to 365 Days on screen. Responding to Oprah Magazine, the female writer said the sequel will be as steamy and passionate as the first part.
365 Days content revolves around the strange life of a girl named Laura (Anna-Maria Sieklucka). While on vacation in Sicily, Laura is kidnapped by Massimo (Michele Morrone), a mafia boss. He promised to imprison Laura for a year and make her love him. After that time, if she doesn’t love Massimo, she can leave.
On the Internet, audiences criticized 365 Days for promoting toxic masculinity as well as romanticizing kidnapping and sexual violence. Despite facing criticism and receiving only 0 points on Rotten Tomatoes, the film still reached the top 10 most viewed works on the Netflix platform for 2 weeks.
Thanks to the fame and notoriety of the film adaptation, the original novel 365 Days received attention. In Poland, because of its abundance of daring orgy scenes, Lipińska’s novel is often compared to (E. L. James’s) 50 Shades of Gray.
“When I first started writing, my goal was to become famous. I think this will be fun. But it turns out that’s not the case. The paparazzi were everywhere, to the point that even if I went out to buy groceries, my photo would appear in the newspaper. This situation is really uncomfortable. I don’t want to be a star. I just want to be a normal person”, Blanka Lipińska shared about life after unexpected fame.
According to her, the novel 365 Days was born as a way to relieve stress in her personal life. The character Martin, Laura’s ex-lover, was inspired by the female author’s former lover. “He gets along with me in every way, except sexually. It’s a difficult challenge to overcome, especially when you love him so much,” Lipińska shared.
She said: “85% of what happens in the book is true”, confirming that she was kidnapped by her lover, but “that situation was much simpler than Laura’s experience. Anyway, the experience is quite interesting.”
Lipińska affirmed that the controversial book series was written for entertainment purposes, not a life guide.
She also hopes that readers and audiences will not judge the book series based on the content of the movie 365 Days. Lipińska believes that after reading the entire trilogy, they will realize the feminist message hidden within. “I want women to be strong and alert. Their independence is the most important thing in the world,” she said.
“I am successful today because I give people what they need,” she shared. The female writer, who often identifies herself as a businesswoman, said the novel will be the only work in her writing career.
“I only wrote one story, and now it’s finished. If I don’t have to write anymore, then I feel happy,” she concluded.
