After 50 Shades of Gray to 365 Days, why are films with violent sexual elements criticized so much?

The “consequences” of “50 Shades of Gray” – “365 Days” are shocking when they only have a Rotten Tomatoes score of 0%, why?

The 2nd largest movie website in Vietnam stopped working, and the years of “pagoda” gradually came to an end.
Premiering to global audiences on June 7, the Polish film 365 Days (Vietnamese title: 365 Days) received extremely positive reviews from critics, receiving a “dead” score of 0%. Why are movies with BDSM elements (abnormal sexual behavior that causes pain to others or yourself) like 50 Shades of Gray and 365 Days considered “trash”??

Sexual violence, education, and gender inequality are outdated

50 Shades of Gray and 365 Days both have similar content. The handsome billionaire uses a “living together” contract that requires the female lead to stay with him. He has a habit of “going to bed” to ease the pain, but gradually, she falls in love and wants to be with him forever.

In a relationship, the most important thing is that both parties must be respected. But this appears quite faintly in 50 Shades of Gray and is completely absent in 365 Days. In both films, women take the initiative in the relationship. Anastasia of 50 Shades was controlled from the living room to the bedroom by Christian Gray, and worse, Laura was kidnapped and tortured by Massimo. This is in stark contrast to the equal lifestyle that women around the world have fought for for hundreds of years.

In that regard, BDSM remains a controversial issue. “Romanticizing” it on the big screen is inappropriate. Movies incite violence, even sexual abuse, causing difficulties for the system. If a guy is handsome and rich, he can hug and possess every girl without worrying about the consequences. In real life, the ending probably won’t be as beautiful as the movie!

The immature version uses “hot scenes” to see the sentence

Choosing a sensitive issue, but the person “in charge” of these two films is too inexperienced. 50 Shades of Gray was originally a Twilight fanfic, while 365 Days was written by a cosmetologist with no writing experience. The story’s content is nothing but steamy touch screens, so how to convey the message to the masses?

Besides, the filmmakers also did not add any outstanding meaning to the work. All three installments of Fifty Shades of Gray have been criticized for their intriguing storylines. Even 18+ scenes will have to gradually increase over time. 365 Days is even worse than 50 Shades of Gray when the sex scenes appear denser and more violent. The film turns a successful businesswoman like Laura into a fool in the face of Massimo’s physical and mental abuse.

The acting is gentle, lacking “chemistry” between the main couple

Although “close” physically, the main couple is very far apart emotionally. This is not too difficult to understand because the film’s script is “cliché” and the character’s psychology is not profound, making it difficult for the actors to express themselves sharply. Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson also look like they’re paying off their cards and what they have left in real life.

Anna-Maria Sieklucka and Michele Morrone are even worse. Right from the trailer, the audience had to laugh at the prose-like conversations of the two main actors. It’s like other than looking at each other aggressively and showing signs of danger, neither of them showed much expression.

However, the 50 Shades of Gray film series has reached $1 billion in revenue while 365 Days topped the movies with the most views of the week in the US, UK, and even Vietnam. A part of our company only watches movies for entertainment purposes, likes beautiful boys and girls or is curious because of “hot scenes”. No matter what the critics are saying, these movies are still alive.
