Young Sheldon brings back Big Bang Theory character for latest episode

The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik – who played Amy Fowler, Sheldon’s (Jim Parsons) wife – reprized her role in the latest episode of season five of the prequel show Young Sheldon.

The episode, which explores the theme of relationships, sees Parsons and Bialik join forces to narrate it together as husband and wife. Much to the delight of #ShAmy shippers.

As the Young Sheldon account put on Instagram: “Two narrators are better than one on tonight’s new #YoungSheldon— and if we’re talking relationships, we have to say this is one of our favorites.”
The narration leads to a number of sweet and funny interactions between the two beloved Big Bang Theory characters, including Sheldon being one-upped by Nobel Prize winner Amy in a conversation about jealousy.

Later, they discussed the element of mystery in a relationship where Amy reminded Sheldon his bathroom schedule is on the refrigerator and concluded “we have no mystery”. This was Bialik’s second appearance on the show after she featured in the season four premiere.

After the end of Big Bang Theory, fans were told Amy and Sheldon had a few children and in her season four episode we found out their firstborn son was called Leonard Cooper – after their friend Leonard Hofstadter.

Bialik is also not the first Big Bang Theory co-star to make an appearance in the CBS show that chronicles Sheldon’s boyhood.

Penny Teller-Hofstadter (Kaley Cuoco) appeared in a season three episode, while Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) also reprized his role in a recent episode to explore Sheldon’s dislike of engineering.

Young Sheldon airs on CBS in the US, and is also shown in the UK on E4. The Big Bang Theory aired on CBS in the US. You can buy the complete boxset now on DVD and Blu-ray.
