10 Seriously Weird Full House Storylines We’d Rather Forget ( Part 1)

Is one of the most beloved sitcoms from the late 1980s and early 1990s, and though it was full of heartwarming moments, it also has various, truly weird storylines that would be better to forget they ever happened. Created by Jeff Franklin, aired on ABC from 1987 to 1995 for a total of eight seasons, through which the audience followed the many ups and downs in the lives of the Tanner family, who weren’t your typical family. Though wasn’t a critical success, it has become quite popular as the years go by.

Set in San Francisco, follows Danny Tanner (Bob Saget), a widowed father of three girls – DJ (Candace Cameron), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), and Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) – who enlists the help of his brother-in-law, Jesse (John Stamos), and his childhood best friend Joey (Dave Coulier) to raise his daughters. They are soon joined by Jesse’s wife, Becky (Lori Loughlin), and their twins, and while they all form a big family, it’s not easy living in a house with so many people. had various fun and emotional moments, but there were many others that it’s best to forget ever happened. Here are 10 seriously weird storylines.

1 Michelle’s Amnesia In Full House Season 8

Ended with a storyline that was quite divisive. In the two-part series finale, titled “Michelle Rides Again”, Michelle and her friend Elizabeth decided to skip the horse riding competition and went off riding for fun, but when Michelle’s horse panicked, she was thrown off and hit her head. Michelle got temporal amnesia as a result, and her family did different things to help her remember. Michelle eventually remembered everyone and everything except the accident, and her family reminded her that she’s an important piece of them. Michelle’s amnesia moment felt very odd for a series finale, and in the end, it was just a device to deliver one final message on the importance of family, but there were many other, less strange ways to do that.

2 DJ’s Eating Disorder In Full House Season 4

Addressed serious topics from time to time, but it didn’t always handle them well. One of the best examples is in season 4’s episode “Shape Up”, where Kimmy was preparing her birthday party at a local hotel’s swimming pool. DJ was anxious about her body image and decided to stop eating, and taped cut-out photos of skinny models to the kitchen fridge to keep herself from getting food. Aunt Becky told her that the best way to lose weight was to eat the right foods, and the next morning, Stephanie saw DJ giving her sandwich to their dog, making her promise to not say anything. Those around DJ unknowingly encouraged her unhealthy weight loss ways, and it wasn’t until she collapsed at the gym that they paid real attention to her.

DJ was dealing with body dysmorphia and an eating disorder, with DJ magically getting over them after Danny talked to her about her real value and more. DJ promised to exercise the right way and eat healthy from then on, and while this could have been one of ’s most important episodes, the way the writers handled DJ’s situation wasn’t the best or the most respectful one.

3 DJ’s Greek “Wedding” In Full House Season 4

In season 4 episode “Greek Week”, Jesse’s grandparents arrived from Greece to visit the family, and they brought three guests with them, one of them Sylvio Banalakis, a boy of the same age as DJ. DJ was instantly attracted to Sylvio, who casually asked Danny for permission to walk around the table with DJ. Unbeknownst to the Tanners, this was a Pompadorian-style marriage ceremony, meaning that DJ and Sylvio were now married. Danny was obviously shocked and pushed for a “divorce”, which consisted of walking around the table in reverse. DJ was way too young at the time, and being tricked into a Greek wedding wasn’t exactly fun or funny to watch.

4 Michelle Tanner’s Dream About Pre-School In Full House Season 3

Michelle often had strange dreams, but one of the toughest ones to watch happened in season 3 episode “Bye, Bye Birdie”. On the night before her first day of preschool, Michelle had a bizarre dream where her father, uncles, and aunt Becky were dressed (and acted) as kids, Michelle was wearing a princess dress, and the grown-ups were her size. In addition to that, the decorations, with animals and some sort of human/animal hybrid were quite creepy. Michelle’s dream was brief, but the grown-ups acting like kids and dressed as such is an image that’s, unfortunately, hard to forget.

5 Joey Gets A Job At A Kid’s Show In Full House Season 5

Joey had various jobs in addition to his work as a stand-up comedian, and in season 5 episode “The Legend of Ranger Joe”, he got his dream job as the new ranger in . Joey learned that his childhood idol, Roy, was retiring and looking for a new ranger to take over the show, so Danny scheduled Joey for an interview with Roy. Joey got the job, but when he hugged Roy, the latter started to hyperventilate and fired Joey. Danny later told Joey that Roy had acute physical paranoia, so physical contact caused him to hyperventilate and break out in hives.

Joey’s firing led to other bad events in Joey’s life, but when he returned to apologize to Roy, he filled in for his childhood idol when he had another panic attack. Roy changed his mind and Joey got the job again, becoming “Ranger Joe”. It’s not only uncomfortable to watch how Joey’s luck suddenly changed, but also how much Roy’s condition affected his daily life.
